seems to ignore the practice of peers like wade guyton and seth price. not clear how this work transcends aesthetics of new york early 2000s strong work.

I think his work is more overtly addressing Broodthaers. Does he need to make more of a ‘nod’ to the Guyton/Price/etc. crew?

i am just discouraged by what seems to be an easy solution. i find the work extremely easy. Broodthaers was revolutionary, not simply repeating successful strategies. if the grid on the catalog posters is to respond on abstraction and systems of reproduction, can’t we just look at Price’s calendars? He made a whole exhibition of those.
of Guyton’s fantastic prints on selected printed material? This is new work, bring something new to the table. But it’s easier to just dress up an existing practice. which is what this young man seems to do, however, he has a good eye.
